Here is my little bit of cynicism. Friendship is something of great value, but, if the bonds are strong enough, close enough, it can be deadly. It can destroy the mind, leave one restless, divert a mans energy towards sadness, and ultimately kill the very soul by itself.
When bonds are so strong, made heavy, compressed, and then are to be suddenly cut off, pain afflicts both sides. Both sides of the chain, so heavy, fall to the earth, severed in an instant. But do you know what is worse than this? If that strong bond is eroded over time. Such a healthy looking friendship, but never maintained, and over the years decays and rusts in the sun, and one day, without suspect, falls apart. That is the more devastating of the two. —
